Q.1 What are the visa requirements as per nationality?
A.1 The visa requirements are as per the following 3 categories:
Category 1 – List of countries that do not require visa for France or Schengen region are:
Countries that don�t require a tourist or business visa for a travel period of 90 days are - Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Liechtenstein, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Romania, San-Marino, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, USA, Uruguay, The Vatican, Venezuela, Mauritius, Seychelles, Barbados, Bahamas, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Christopher and Nevis.
Category B – Countries from EU/EEU/UK that do not require visa for Schengen or France Region are:
UK and European Union (EU) nationals do not require a France Visa for 90 days of travel which is considered a short-stay. The EU and EEA countries are:
Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Great-Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.
Category 3 – Visa processing for the following countries can take more than 2 weeks �
Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Belarusian, Burma, Burundi, Colombia, Congo (Zaire), Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, North Korea, Lebanon, Libya, Myanmar, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Surinam, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Yemen, and Zimbabwe.
Q.2. I want to submit a visa application by post without visiting the center?
A.2. A personal visit is compulsory for submitting the biometric data hence you cannot do that.
Q.3. I am planning my vacation after 1 month, when should I apply for a France visa?
A.3. 3 months prior to the date of travel is the time to apply for the visa.
Q.4. Do I need a hotel booking for a day trip?
A.4. No you do not require this for a day trip.
Q.5. My UK residency/passport will expire after 2 months. Can I apply for the visa?
A.5 No you cannot as your UK residency permit and passport must be valid for 90 days from the date you depart from a Schengen area.
Q6. My spouse is British/ EU national, kindly confirm what documents are needed?
A.6. Kindly submit a marriage certificate/civil partnership, a proof of your spouse�s nationality, and proof of travel including hotel, flight bookings, etc.
Q.7. Can my child and his friends are under the age of 18. They wish to travel to France independently?
A.7. They cannot do this as they must be accompanied by a responsible adult. This is applicable for their visit to France and while undergoing the visa application process. .
Q.8. Do we all need to be present while applying for France visa as a family?
A.8 Except for children under the age of 12, personal presence is compulsory for all visa applicants.
Q.9. Kindly confirm the documents needed as we are planning to stay with friends and family at their home.
A.9. Kindly request the French citizens whom you will be residing with to obtain a certificate called �attestation d�accueil� from their local town hall.
